All about TriFest

Below you will find information on the festival itself, getting here and accessibility and a site map with important locations around the festival.

Site Map

Toilets

All the toliets are provided by local traders off site and shown on the map.

People have asked why we have no toilets at the festival and the answer is simple but very annoying.

We rely on volunteers to help (no one is paid), the generosity of local musicians playing for free, and the loan of the music equipment.  This keeps our costs low and, more importantly, the festival free. Our only income is a 10% of net profit contributed by traders and donations from festival goers.

The lowest quote we can get for the hire of three portaloos for one Saturday is £1,150.  The reason being that the suppliers (all of them) “don’t work weekends.”  This cost would bankrupt us in one year.

We have four traders on the Triangle who, very generously, allow festival goers to use their customer toilets on the day.  Without their support we would not be able to operate TriFest.

We recognise this is not ideal but with public toilets no longer available in the park we have no other option.

Please respect the Triangle traders that are helping us.

Getting to TriFest

We are on Riverside Park next to Bitterne Park Triangle and Cobden Bridge.

Get the bus.

From Bitterne, Townhill Park, St Denys, Portswood & the Town Centre stop at the Triangle right next to the entrance to the park.

Take a train

Nearest stations are St Denys and Bitterne both around 10-15 minute walk from the festival.

Ride a bike

We are on a national cycleway  which runs right through the park.

Walk

Have a stroll through the park to join us.

Accessability

There is level paved access from the Social Club Car Park. There is also paved access with a steep slop from cobden bridge. The festival is exclusively on the grassed area of the park, but this is well maintained by the council but could become boggy if there has been rain.

Parking

There probably isn't any!  There is a small amount of parking on Manor Farm Road and Whitworth Crescent near the Triangle  (a couple of disabled persons bays near the Clock Tower) and a car park behind the social club on Manor Farm Road.  But these are normally full on a Saturday even without the festival being on.  Realistically, it is best not to bring your car.

About TriFest

TriFest is a free community event open to all who want a fun day in the park. Why TriFest? It is the festival at Bitterne Park Triangle.

We will have a range of local musicians performing, along with local traders and community organisations stalls, Games, a dog show ran by Second Chance animal rescue (enter on the day), food, and artwork projects, and the Beer Tent bar run by the Butcher’s Hook.

TriFest is run by a small group of volunteers and comes under the umbrella of Friends of Riverside Park.

If you want to have a stall or get involved, email Paul Jenks Festival Coordinator at trifesthome@gmail.com
